Another report from the Canadian Institute for Health Information last week told Manitobans what many already knew. The wait time targets for hip and knee replacements are not being met and in fact the wait time for these procedures are among the worst in the country.
When it comes to knee replacements, only half were done within six months. Only Nova Scotia did worse than Manitoba in terms of this statistic. That means that individuals waiting for knee and hip replacements are not only waiting in pain, they are not able to work or contribute in other ways to their communities.
Despite record amount of dollars being spent in healthcare, the NDP government just hasn’t been able to provide the outcomes experienced in other provinces.
