On the weekend of August 24 and 25, 2016, Thompson RCMP, in conjunction with North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) and StreetReach, initiated Project Home Deliver.
The goal of Project Home Deliver was to target suspected offenders that may be harbouring children for the purposes of exploitation, locate missing high-risk children, and develop relationships with those children and their care providers.
“D” Division RCMP and StreetReach spearheaded the initiative. The StreetReach team consists of child protection workers, law enforcement, and non-governmental organizations that provide services to youth that may be exploited or vulnerable to exploitation.
Over the weekend, Thompson RCMP and StreetReach checked on the well-being of 61 children, visited 18 addresses and two group homes. Over two days, the team located 14 children and returned them to their caregivers.
Thompson RCMP, in partnership with StreetReach, is committed to ensuring Northern communities are safe for children and offenders are held accountable.
