Standing on my Soap Box

End of January 2012!

While looking at my Norwex cleaning clothes catalogues this week, I started thinking about cleaning.

Cleaning?! – my husband would LAUGH if he knew I was writing about cleaning. I am a clean person; I get things put away, dusted off etc, but not to his level of cleanliness. Therefore he will have a good chuckle if he reads what I am writing about today.

But before I start, if you are looking for household tips or recommendations, this is not the place to be reading, check into my friend Reena Nerbas. She is a cleaning guru, with three books written, and tips on cleaning are her forte, not mine. If you want to read some fun stuff keep reading.

As previously stated, I am not really particular on how a job gets done, so long as it gets done and please do a good job. What I am sticky on is attitude and relationship.

How important is it to be perfect in cleaning? For health and wellness reasons we need to be clean. I will give you that. We need to be able to put stuff on a counter top and not have it stick there, or get lost amongst the other things on the counter. We need to have things put away so that no one is tripping on things on the floor. We also need to make sure that there are no germs lurking on surfaces.

When my children were young I was a mom who stayed at home during the day. When my oldest was two years old I quit my full time job in order to stay home with him, and then we added 2 more.

I now work full time, and I have 3 children who this spring will all be 16, 13 and 11, and some of the cleaning is taken over our children.

As a stay at home mom I wasn’t always cleaning the house, or washing clothes. I was with my children. I may have had a dust bunny or three under my china cabinet (ok, my husband would probably think maybe 10 or more dust bunnies, but who is counting), but my children knew they were loved, and they knew where I was.

What is my point in this entire mumble jumble? A clean house is necessary for health and safety reasons. Spending time enjoying the house, and the people in it is just  as necessary.

Resolution update:

So how many are joining me in a resolution?

I did not get to run 1 minute, walk 1 minute these last two weeks! Dropped a 1 litre bottle of shampoo on my right foot bruised the blessed thing. I have however gone to the Chiropractor for a full body assessment and will be back on the treadmill SOON.

On a positive note, I have lost over 10 lbs since the 2nd week of January.
