The last of our summer festivals, Fall on the Farm, is just around the corner. As usual, it will take place on Labour Day (Monday, September 3) from 10am-5pm. One of the more popular pioneer demonstrations featured at Fall on the Farm is the butchering demonstration. This year we are again planning to demonstrate hog butchering and chicken butchering.
Anyone who has driven by the museum recently will likely have noticed our field of oat stooks just north of the Village. Weather and old machinery permitting, we hope to do a lot of threshing that day. Similarly, once we get some of the stooks of sheaves off the field, we hope to get the steamer out onto the stubble, pulling a six-bottom platform plow.
Fall on the Farm will offer all the usual kids’ activities, ethnic food, entertainment and pioneer demonstrations which have made it one of our most popular festival events. Volunteers to help with the above activities are welcome. Call 326-9661 and ask for Devon.
