We are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Dyck to the position of Curator at Mennonite Heritage Village. This appointment is effective immediately. Jessica McKague continues in her role as Assistant Curator, bringing continuity to our Curatorial Department.
Andrea has rich experience in both Mennonite History and curatorial work. She earned her Bachelor of Arts, Honours degree with a History major at the University of Winnipeg and then went on to acquire her Master of Arts Degree, in Mennonite History, at the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg. Her Master’s thesis dealt with the Mennonites who migrated from Canada to Mexico in the 1920s. She also currently holds a part-time position with the D. F. Plett Historical Research Foundation, which promotes research related to the conservative Mennonites who came to Manitoba from Imperial Russia in the 1870s.
Andrea’s museum experience comes from a three year term as Curator of Contemporary Cultures & Immigration at the Manitoba Museum in Winnipeg. Prior to that she held several positions in the Manitoba Legislature and served as a Research Assistant for Dr. Royden Loewen at the University of Winnipeg.
