Last weekend was a busy one at the museum. On Saturday morning we held our annual Jreeve Breakfast. Jreeve is a traditional pork breakfast-meat (with a relatively high fat content) which many Mennonites grew up eating, despite the fact that it’s not considered to be the healthiest of breakfast foods.
In my childhood experience, we typically ate it with home-made brown bread. My mother often added home-made wild plum jam to her plate. Today Jreeve is often served with fried potatoes and scrambled eggs.
On Sunday the Steinbach Lions Club held their annual car show at MHV. Beautiful weather made it a great day for such an event. Between 600 and 700 people came to see the vintage vehicles on display. We appreciate this collaboration with the Lions Club.
