Mennonite Heritage Village Celebrates 50 Years

Mennonite Heritage Village will hold its signature event in a series of 50th anniversary celebrations this weekend.

On July 5 Schmeckfest Jubilee will focus on the food and music elements of the Mennonite Heritage. Traditional Mennonite cuisine and local musicians will be featured as guests stroll through the village, beginning at 5:30 PM. The evening will be topped off in the Auditorium with delectable desserts and stellar entertainment by world class improvisational violinist Rosemary Siemens.

Reservations can be made by calling Mennonite Heritage Village at 204-326-9661. Seats are available for $100, half of which will be receipted as a charitable donation.

Sunday is Open House at MHV with a focus on the faith element so vital to our roots. The day will begin with a worship service in the tent at 10:00 AM. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or experience the hard wooden benches of the past. At 2:30 PM there will be a Saengerfest (a festival of choral music) in the Auditorium. The program will feature three individual choirs and will also see the three choirs combine to form a mass choir. The regular Sunday Lunch buffet with be available at noon and a traditional Faspa/Vesper (light supper) will be offered later in the day.

Guided tours will be conducted at various times throughout the day. The gates will be open from 9:00 AM till 6:00 PM and no admission will be charged.
