In celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 12-18), I will be hosting an event to recognize and honour our local volunteers.
Here in the Southeast we value the efforts of our volunteers and community leaders who work tirelessly for the benefit of others. Without these volunteers, who would organize community and church events, run our community centres, coach our children’s sport team or serve the less fortunate?
I believe that we need to take the time to thank these unsung heroes. With this volunteer appreciation event, I hope to do just that.
I’m asking community members to submit names of people who have faithfully served their communities by volunteering their time and energy to community service. Ten candidates will be selected from the names submitted to receive the Provencher Volunteer Service Medallion. This is an excellent opportunity for communities to demonstrate their support for the men and women who have consistently placed the needs of others above their own.
To nominate someone, you can reach us at 204-326-9889 or falkt.c1b@parl.gc.ca.
