I never thought I would see the day when I would write a “trilogy”, and yet that is what this blog post is. This is the last part of a three part post. When I started this series I didn’t realize it was going to be that way, however here we are. Part One – What a Day, was the day my Dad had major surgery. Part Two – When Life Changes was about my job loss, and how that was actually a blessing. Today is Part Three – A New Normal.
The first part of this post will be about my job issues. As you know from my last post I was terminated from the company I worked for. I had been there for 5 and a half years. I also told you how being terminated was actually a blessing for me as I was needed to help my parents out. I still did the whole job hunting/interviewing that I needed to do; in fact that was part of my daily routine. But you know what, timing was on my side, and last week I was hired as a Community Liaison/Recruiter. This is an amazing opportunity for me. I get to use my skills, and God given talents to help others reach their potential. This was not even a job that I applied for. My name was given to my new boss from someone whom I had dealt with in my previous employer, and knew my work ethics. My new job allows me to work from home a few days a week, I drive to Winnipeg a few days a week (But not every day!), I travel to other communities uplifting and encouraging others who are going through similar to what I just went through.
This is A New Normal for me on the work front.
But there is another New Normal. As of the day I write this, MY DAD CAME HOME TODAY! My dad has received mobility back, however, he is using a walker, and when we go out he needs to have a wheelchair as he doesn’t have the strength/stamina to walk long distances. There are a few other changes that I don’t think my dad would appreciate me sharing as those are not important to this post that are part of a new normal for him/us.
Do you want to know what the really cool thing about all this New Normal is? I start my new career after my dad got home. The majority of the driving my parents need help with is now done, except for the occasional check up, which can easily be adjusted into my schedule or my husband’s or our son’s schedules.
So all in all, these past 3 months have SUCKED! I pray I never have to go through something like this again. That being said, I have watched GOD BE GOD. I have seen some really amazing miracles happen; parking spots that I needed due to the mobility of my parents; tables that I needed were empty when I got to them; things that I needed to pick up were on sale; my new employment was handed to me; when my children were coming down with Bronchitis, my husband and I avoided getting sick. I could go on, but the only thing I can say… Only God.
