Recently, the Liberals and NDP voted AGAINST the following Conservative motion regarding ISIS fighters returning to Canada:
That the House:
While the Liberals and the NDP claim to take seriously the safety of Canadians their unwillingness to condemn ISIS shows the danger of placing ideology ahead of common sense.
While our allies in Britain, France and the USA are actively working to prevent the return of ISIS fighters to their shores, the Trudeau Liberals are spending millions ($35 million to be specific) on a plan to “de-radicalize” and “reintegrate” ISIS terrorists into Canadian society. A plan that they themselves have admitted is likely to fail.
Why is it so difficult for the Liberals and NDP to condemn ISIS? For parties that claim to champion human rights, particularly women and girl’s rights, this should be a no brainer.
In addition to their atrocities in Iraq and Syria, ISIS has carried out or inspired some 150 terror attacks in 29 countries around the world, including Canada.
People who left our country to torture and murder women, children and minorities, who fought against our troops, our allies and our values, do not deserve to be reintegrated and do not belong back in Canada. They belong in jail.
Our previous Conservative Government stripped terrorists of their Canadian citizenship. The Liberals repealed that law precipitating the dangerous situation we now face. We opposed the $10.5 million payout and apology that the Liberals gave to Omar Khadr. We put forward this motion, calling on the Government to fulfill their most basic duty to protect Canadians. These votes against our motion show, once again, that the Conservative Party is the only party that is in touch with the views and concerns of, and the only party that can be trusted with, the safety of Canadians.
