Merry Christmas – 2022

At Christmas time we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.

God’s greatest gift to humanity was Himself. Jesus took on frail humanity and laid down His own life to die on the cross so we might be reconciled to Him and to one another. Then He rose from the dead so we might have new life and life to its fullest.

This gift of new life is available to everyone. It’s up to each one of us to accept this gift and pay it forward.

In our increasingly consumeristic and self-focused culture, it can be easy to miss the significance of the baby in the manger. How Christ laid down his rights as God and became human, so broken humanity could be set free from sin and death and be healed.

In light of Christ’s actions, let us humbly look beyond our own self-focused wants and rights and look for ways to serve others this Christmas season.

As so many Canadians struggle to make ends meet this Christmas, let us use the time, talents, and treasures God has blessed us with to show true generosity and love to our neighbors.

Let us be ambassadors of peace and goodwill among all that we meet.

On behalf of my wife Irene and myself, to all Provencher residents, and all Canadians, my very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and blessed New Year.
