A few weeks ago Leonard Klassen, representing the local Rotary Club, walked into the Village Centre to deliver a cheque from the club in the amount of $1,000. These funds were earmarked for maintenance of our windmill. This is not the first time the Rotary Club has made such a specified donation. As the windmill is an icon for both the museum and Steinbach, we appreciate this support which enables us to maintain a key feature which people from many countries come to see. The Broesky team has recently begun the significant job of giving it a new coat of paint.

On June 16, 2012, Wilmer Penner and Sheila Reid presented another one of their well-known Low-German events. The evening included music, drama and readings from a couple of locally authored books. Despite the fact that Summer in the City was in full swing, with Burton Cummings being on the festival’s main stage that evening, the Steinbach Regional Secondary School Theatre was full to capacity. In fact, tickets were sold out at least two weeks prior to the event. Wilmer and Sheila donated the proceeds of the evening, amounting to $1,800, to Mennonite Heritage Village. We are grateful for their support for our mission and our activities.
