MHV has a wonderful arrangement with a group of local artisans who display and sell their works in the General Store during our “tourist” season. (May – September) These people volunteer as General Store staff, creating an environment which many of our guests enjoy visiting. The crafts include many different hand-made items such as wooden toys, intarsia, jewelry, soaps, and various art forms.
Last Saturday this group held their annual Christmas craft sale at MHV. On this occasion the group was much larger than the twelve who operate out of our General Store in the summer. 23 artisans merchandised their wares for the day. In addition to the arts and crafts named above the selection of products for sale included food items, health supplements and some housewares.
While the weather threatened to deliver snow, roads remained clear and precipitation was minimal. The cold weather may well have influenced many to look for indoor activities. More than 200 people made this craft sale their destination on that day. Most vendors seemed to be pleased with both the attendance and the sales generated.
Roxanna Martens, our Gift Shop Manager and her staff went out of their way to create a festive atmosphere in and around our Gift Shop for this occasion. Not only were there Christmas decorations in the store and the foyer, coffee and cookies were available to anyone who needed to sit down and relax for a few minutes. The cookies were homemade, large and very good.
The Gift Shop will be open for business Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM between now and 3:00 PM, December 24. Please consider checking out our considerable selection of gift items.
