Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer has received a letter from Justin Trudeau’s lawyer, threatening him with a lawsuit over his criticisms of Trudeau’s conduct in the SNC-Lavalin affair.

This lawsuit threat is just the latest in Justin Trudeau’s campaign to silence his critics, both in the opposition and within his own party.

This is what Justin Trudeau does. He threatens and exerts his power in an attempt to silence his critics.

He inappropriately pressured, then fired Jody Wilson-Raybould when she wouldn’t cow-tow to his will. He kicked her and Jane Philpott out of Caucus for daring to speak out. He drove MP Celina Caesar-Chavannes out of the Liberal caucus with his “hostile” conduct. He used his power to shut down the Justice Committee investigation. Now he is attempting to silence the Leader of Her Majesty’s loyal opposition with his threats. All to cover up his illicit activity.

But we will not be intimidated.

Mr. Scheer and Canada’s Conservatives urge Mr. Trudeau to proceed with his lawsuit so Canadians can finally get the answers they deserve.

“If Mr. Trudeau believes he has a case against me, I urge him to follow through on his threat immediately,” said Scheer.

“Canadians want this scandal to be investigated in a legal setting where Liberals do not control the proceedings. I welcome the opportunity to examine Mr. Trudeau in pre-trial discovery at the earliest possible date and I look forward to Mr. Trudeau presenting his evidence to Canadians, under oath, in open court.”

Canada’s Conservatives will not back down, and we will not be silenced. We will continue to do our jobs, continue to the seek the truth and continue to hold Justin Trudeau to account.
