We have noted in previous articles that in order to find a firm, biblical basis for church involvement in society we need to adopt a holistic gospel of the Kingdom of God, abandon the notion of a “great escape” from this world, and catch a vision of the cosmic redemption that permeates the teaching of the New Testament.

Following in the footsteps of N.T. Wright, I would like to suggest that it is most appropriate in Biblical Theology to look first at what the Bible has to say about cosmic redemption before contemplating the ultimate destiny of individuals.

In a previous article, Church on Main, I suggested that the church should be seen and heard on Main Street; that is, the church needs to be engaged with the world in which it lives.
