Earlier this week, the Canada Summer Jobs Program began accepting applications from employers for funding assistance to help with the hiring of summer students for 2017.

This past Friday, Cuba’s long serving dictator, Fidel Castro, passed away. While it is customary and appropriate for the Prime Minister of Canada to make an official statement on the passing of a world leader, many around the world were surprised by Justin Trudeau’s gushing praise of Mr. Castro and his oppressive regime.

The Liberal Government’s 2016 budget was a setback for small businesses in Canada. They broke a key promise and kept the small business tax rate at 10.5%, instead of lowering it to the scheduled 9%.

Over the past number of weeks, I’ve spent a great deal of time examining Bill C-16, an Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act to add gender identity and gender expression to the list of prohibited grounds of discrimination.

I encourage all residents to join me in honouring and commemorating the courage, service and sacrifice of Canada’s Veterans this Veterans’ Week.

As the Member of Parliament for Provencher, I see first-hand how our seniors continue to help build our country and shape our society.

Last week marked the one-year anniversary since the election of the Liberal government led by Justin Trudeau.

October 15th-19th was Small Business Week in Canada. It is an annual celebration of the contribution small businesses make to our economies and our communities.

Recently, Justin Trudeau announced that the Liberal Government will impose a massive new carbon tax that will cost everyday working people and their families thousands of dollars each year.

This past weekend, I participated in the We Need a Law flag display at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach.
