There has been much discussion lately surrounding the wearing of the Niqab at Canadian Citizenship ceremonies. The Niqab, worn by some Muslim women, obscures a person’s face, and thus their identity.

Our Conservative Government is focused on delivering services and benefits that meet the needs of Canada’s Veterans and their families.

Canadian seniors have played a central role in building this country. They have earned our respect and admiration and they deserve our support to help them enjoy the best quality of life possible.

I was pleased by Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s recent announcement for continued support for Futurpreneur Canada.

According to a recent article by MacLean’s Magazine, Steinbach is the most generous city in Canada. The article states that according to Statistics Canada, of all the cities across Canada, the people of Steinbach donate the most to charity.

Last week, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced our Government’s intent, in keeping with the commitment made in the 2013 Speech from the Throne, to introduce legislation to further protect Canadian families by ending the practice of automatic early release for repeat violent offenders.

Our Conservative Government has delivered Canada’s Economic Action Plan – a strong plan to help families, seniors, job creators and communities.

In celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 12-18), I will be hosting an event to recognize and honour our local volunteers.

Like our hard working volunteers, small businesses make up the backbone of our communities. Here in Southeastern Manitoba we are fortunate to be part of growing communities who can attribute this success to our entrepreneurial spirit.
