Over the past two years across North America there has been a steep rise in the number of thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles.

Last week Manitoba Finance reported its final fiscal results for last year’s budget while providing an update on the first three months of the current fiscal year.

The Manitoba Legislature began its fall session this past Wednesday with a number of planned as well as some unforeseen items on the agenda which need to be dealt with in the coming weeks.

The news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last week perhaps wasn’t surprising given the 96-year-old sovereign had been battling health concerns for several months, and yet, it still managed to be shocking. Shocking because the news marked the passing of the only monarch that most Canadians have ever known.

Throughout the southeast, communities have experienced significant growth over the past decade. This is both well documented and it is seen in virtually all aspects of life and development in our communities.

The growth of the southeast part of Manitoba brings both opportunities and challenges. The positive aspects of continued growth are that residents can benefit from the vibrancy of a developing region and the services and opportunities that come with it.

The increase in violent crime in recent months across Canada has resulted in the increased seizure of guns that are used in the commission of crime.

This week it was announced that former Member of Parliament, Anita Neville, will become the next Lieutenant Governor (LG) of the Province of Manitoba.

On Friday of last week, I joined members of the Manitoba RCMP at their headquarters in Winnipeg for a press conference to unveil a new provincial RCMP policing initiative that has already garnered some significant results.
