The word “constant” in math or more generally, refers to something that doesn’t change. These days, or perhaps in all days, there really isn’t much that would be considered constant.
The Manitoba Legislature has concluded its fall sittings for 2021. I was honoured to serve as the province’s twenty third Premier during the fall sitting held in October and to serve as the Deputy Premier during the most recent sitting which can only be described as historic.
This past Saturday I was at the Manitoba Legislature doing some weekend work. That itself isn’t unusual, but things around the building itself looked quite different from an average weekend.
The past few months have allowed for a number of events to occur that had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic. The ability for Manitobans to get together in person for these events has made sometimes routine events feel extra special.
Despite an unseasonably fall and beginning of winter, all residents of Manitoba knew that it wouldn’t last. This past weekend ushered in more traditional November weather with a snowstorm that left many roads in Manitoba in either difficult or unpassable condition.
There have been a number of changes in Manitoba politics over the past few months. Following the resignation of former Premier Brian Pallister in August, I was honoured to serve as Premier while the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba elected a new leader who would then become the province’s 24th Premier.
Every Remembrance Day is special as Canadians pause to reflect upon the sacrifice of so many who have served the country of Canada.

This past week I was able to spend several days in Churchill, Manitoba. The remote northern community has long been a favorite for international visitors who have wanted to see polar bears or beluga whales in their nature habitat.
