On Wednesday, September 5, Mennonite Heritage Village will host its second annual Heritage Classic Golf Tournament and Pig Roast.

It was my turn to work last weekend. This happens about every three weeks between May 1 and September 30, which are the months the outdoor Village is open to the public.

The last of our summer festivals, Fall on the Farm, is just around the corner. As usual, it will take place on Labour Day (Monday, September 3) from 10am-5pm.

Last weekend became a five day weekend for me as I spent time with my extended family at Clear Lake. This annual tradition has its origin more than 20 years ago.

Pioneer Days 2012 was successful in a number of respects. Nearly 5,800 people came to participate in the festivities.

Pioneer Days, MHV’s Signature Festival will again take place on the August long weekend. Beginning with the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce Pioneer Days Parade on Friday, August 3, the festival covers 4 days, concluding on Monday at 6:00 PM.

A few weeks ago Leonard Klassen, representing the local Rotary Club, walked into the Village Centre to deliver a cheque from the club in the amount of $1,000.

The ever popular MHV waffles with vanilla sauce are normally only produced and served on Festival Days. The MHV Auxiliary is making an exception on Wednesday, July 25th.

While Canada Day annually makes its appearance on July 1, it falls on a different day of the week each year.

A little more than 3 years ago when I came to work at MHV, it became obvious to me that The General Store at the west end of our Main Street badly needed repairs and paint.
