Manitoba Central Services advises the government remains committed to providing a safe working environment for staff and Manitobans in all public-facing facilities. Following the intent and spirit of Manitoba’s recent public health orders, individuals entering the Manitoba Legislative Building will be required to be fully immunized and provide proof of vaccination. Certain individuals will have the option of complying with strict testing procedures.

As of Dec. 15, the following individuals are required to be fully immunized and provide proof of vaccination to enter the legislative building:

  • members of the legislative assembly, in alignment with the motion adopted by the legislative assembly on Dec. 2;
  • provincial public servants who do not work in the building;
  • constituency assistants of members of the legislative assembly;
  • contractors performing work in the building on behalf of the Manitoba government or legislative assembly; and
  • all visiting members of the public.

To align with the Nov. 12 COVID-19 prevention orders for public servants, the following individuals are required to be fully immunized and provide proof of vaccination or provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result conducted within the past 48 hours upon each entry to the Manitoba Legislative Building:

  • public servants whose offices are located within the building; and
  • members of the press gallery and media staff who require access to the building.

Manitoba Protective Services will be verifying proof of vaccination or proof of negative test result as applicable when an individual seeks entry to the Manitoba Legislative Building. Compliance with this policy is mandatory and it is expected that treatment to staff be respectful while navigating this process.

For the purposes of this policy, the following documents are considered valid proof of immunization:

  • Manitoba immunization card;
  • pan-Canadian proof of vaccination credential;
  • National Defence Canada COVID-19 vaccine record or card;an official document issued by a Canadian province or territory containing information of a person’s COVID-19 vaccination history; or
  • for international travellers, immunization documentation submitted to Canadian border service officials and government-issued photo identification that confirms their citizenship.
