The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating a motor vehicle collision that took place on November 7, 2021 on Mayfair Avenue in Winnipeg.
On November 23, RCMP notified the IIU of an incident that occurred on November 7 at approximately 9:45pm. According to the notification, the collision occurred on Mayfair Avenue and Queen Elizabeth Way and involved an off-duty RCMP officer and a civilian.
The off-duty police officer did not remain at the scene and failed to exchange particulars.
There were no injuries as a result of the collision, however the civilian director has determined it is in the public interest for the IIU to assume conduct of this investigation.
