Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP are reporting that a 30-year-old man from McCreary, Manitoba was recently located deceased a location on Provincial Road 582, near the community of Makinak.
On January 5, 2022, at 2:30pm, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP received a report of a missing 30-year-old male from McCreary. The missing man was last seen at 2am on January 5, leaving a residence in the Ochre River area and was believed to be returning to his home in McCreary.
At approximately 3pm the same day, officers were advised that the man’s vehicle had been found at a location on Provincial Road 582, west of the community of Makinak. A check of the vehicle and nearby homes was unsuccessful in the search effort.
Officers, along with numerous volunteers, conducted a search of the area until approximately 8pm, when the search was called off for safety reasons due to the extreme cold.
On the morning of January 6, officers from Ste. Rose du Lac, the RCMP Search and Rescue team, RCMP Police Dog Services and volunteers resumed the search. RCMP report that the man was located deceased approximately one kilometre away from his vehicle.
