The City of Steinbach is informing the public that from Monday, January 24 to Wednesday, January 26, 2022, soil condition testing will be taking place between 9am and 3pm at the intersection of Loewen Boulevard and PTH 12N in Steinbach.
Officials say that testing will be completed by an engineering firm and consists of drilling small boreholes to sample the soil at various places in and around the intersection. Utilities in the area will also be located at this time.
The intersection will remain open during this project, however, lane closures are likely as well as some disruption to traffic flow. Motorists are asked to slow down, use caution and pay attention to all posted signs in the area.
This work is being done in preparation for the renewal project planned for the Loewen Blvd / PTH 12N intersection. The City has received $4.5M in grant funding to complete the project, which is estimated at a total cost of $8.2M and part of the City’s Capital Works Plan.
