On February 12, 2022, Lac du Bonnet RCMP will be conducting a snowmobile patrol in the Lac du Bonnet and Pinawa areas. Officers will be out on snowmobiles ensuring safe behaviour.
“For the most part, we expect people will be out simply enjoying the trails and the frozen lakes,” said Staff Sergeant Cory Meyers, Lac Du Bonnet RCMP Detachment Commander. “However, we will be out there to make sure that people are operating their machines in a safe manner and that drivers are sober. We want everyone to have a great time, and we also want to make sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.”
RCMP are offering a few tips to make your ride a safe and enjoyable one:
- Always check the weather conditions before you leave
- Never ride alone
- Let someone know where you are going, the route you plan on taking, and the time of your expected return
- Always wear protective clothing, including a helmet, gloves, and eye protection
- Know your limits – operate only at a speed that allows you and any riding partners to maintain total control of your snowmobile
- Ride sober. Drinking and operating a snowmobile do not mix. Don’t drink and drive and don’t tolerate others who do
