Portage la Prairie RCMP are currently investigating a recent shooting incident that resulted in a 50-year-old woman being injured and subsequently treated at hospital.
On March 2, 2022, at approximately 7am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a shooting at a location in Dakota Plains Wahpeton Oyate, Manitoba. Officers responded to the scene immediately and located an injured 50-year-old woman.
Investigation determined that four people were inside the residence when the shooting occurred. The injured woman was reported to have been sleeping in her bed when she was struck by bullets shot from outside the residence.
Police say that several rounds were found to have struck and entered the house.
RCMP report that no other injuries inside the residence were reported and that the female victim was taken to hospital, treated and released.
