Virden RCMP are reporting that a 23-year-old Winnipeg man has recently died as the result of a two-semi truck with trailer collision that occurred on Highway 1 near Virden, Manitoba.
On March 4, 2022, at approximately 12:10pm, Virden RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at a location on Highway 1, near Provincial Road 256 in the Rural Municipality of Wallace-Woodworth.
Police say that the collision involved two semi-trucks with trailers. Initial investigation determined that a semi-truck was traveling east on Highway 1 when it rear-ended another semi-truck going in the same direction.
RCMP report that the driver of the first semi, a 23-year-old Winnipeg man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police noted that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The passenger of the first semi, a 28-year-old Winnipeg man was treated on scene for minor injuries.
Police noted that the driver of the second semi, a 36-year-old Winnipeg man, was not injured as a result of the collision.
RCMP believe that road conditions were a factor in this collision.
