From March 27 to April 2, 2022, there were 1,359 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Manitoba, an increase from 979 in the previous week. The volume of lab tests increased to on average 1,081 people tested for COVID-19 per day compared to 982 in the previous week, and the positivity rate of lab tests was 18.6 per cent, an increase from 13.9 per cent in the previous week.
Severe outcomes resulting from COVID-19 infection remain moderate. There were 147 total severe outcomes, with 141 hospital admissions and six deaths. Of the 141 hospital admissions, 11 were ICU admissions.
In all Manitoba residents, 82.8% of residents have been partially vaccinated and 79.2% have been fully vaccinated. By March 31st, 42.1% have received one additional dose.
Wastewater surveillance data for the city of Winnipeg indicates ongoing activity of COVID-19, with a generalized downward trend in activity.
The province is also announcing seven outbreaks in long-term car facilities, though number of people infected in these outbreaks is not being disclosed even though the province has this information.
