On August 1, 2016, at approximately 7:30pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to the report of a possible drowning at Grand Beach Provincial Park.
When officers arrived on scene, Grand Beach-Beach Safety Officers had pulled both a 12-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl from the water. The two children were in the water together and being supervised by the parents of the 12-year-old boy when one of the parents lost track of the children due to the setting sun.
Police say that both families and their children are from Winnipeg.
RCMP report that the investigation is ongoing, however, it is not believed to be suspicious in nature and no charges are expected.
