RCMP responded to a number of fatal collisions this past weekend, both are believed to be a result of impaired driving.

On July 31, 2016, at approximately 9:30am, RCMP were called to a property off of 105 Road North in the RM of Gimli, where a male was reported missing after he failed to return from an Off Road Vehicle (ORV) ride the previous night.

Police say that the 51-year-old male from Winnipeg was discovered with the assistance of local rescue agencies. He was located approximately 150 metres away from the property in the RM of Gimli in a gully under his overturned ORV. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On the same day, at approximately 6pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP responded to a medical distress on Sunlee Road in the RM of Alexander.

In this incident, officers attended the location and discovered that two adult males had fallen off a pickup truck while traveling from one residence to another. The males were reported to have been sitting on the side of the box on the truck.

RCMP report that a 29-year-old RM of Springfield man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other man, a 27-year-old from Winnipeg, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver, a 26-year-old Winnipeg woman, is being investigated for impaired driving.

RCMP believe that alcohol is a factor in both cases. The investigations continue with the assistance of traffic and collision analysts.
