St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP are reporting that a 17-year-old male youth from southeastern Manitoba was recently arrested after being connected to threats aimed at a local school located in Ile-des-Chenes, Manitoba.
On June 3, 2022, at 1:50pm, St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP received a report of a note found at École/Collè ge Ré gional Gabrielle-Roy in Ile-des-Chenes with comments that were construed as being threatening in nature. The threat indicated there could be an incident that may occur at the high school on June 6.
Over the course of the weekend, officers worked diligently to discover who was behind the threat. Working with the Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine, a safety plan was put in to place for the arrival of staff and students on June 6.
On the morning of June 6, officers from St. Pierre-Jolys, along with Police Dog Services unit, attended to the high school to conduct a search of the property prior to the arrival of staff and students. Once the property was secured, they were allowed to enter.
Police investigation led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male youth from southeastern Manitoba. The youth is facing charges for uttering threats and has been released from police custody to appear in court at a future date in St. Pierre-Jolys.
