On March 22, 2017, RCMP charged two individuals with second degree murder in the death of a 50-year-old Stony Mountain Correctional Institution inmate.
The initial incident occurred on February 21, 2017, when Stonewall RCMP were informed by staff at the Stony Mountain Correctional Institution that an inmate had been seriously assaulted. The inmate later succumbed to his injuries on March 3, 2017.
Charged in this investigation are 23-year-old Carl Jessie Klyne of Swan River 20-year-old Tristan Storm Fisher of Selkirk.
Police say that the victim had initially sustained severe injuries following an assault that occurred at the institution on February 20, 2017. He later succumbed to those injuries on March 3, 2017.
RCMP report that both accused were inmates within the institution.
