Oakbank RCMP are reporting that a 32-year-old Winnipeg man has recently died as the result of a single-vehicle collision that occurred in the Rural Municipality of Springfield, Manitoba.
On July 20, 2022, at approximately 5:50am, Oakbank RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 207 at Suthwyn Road in the RM of Springfield, Manitoba.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a severely damaged car in the west ditch. Officers noted that a deceased male was located on the ground at a location near the vehicle.
Initial police investigation has determined that the car was traveling north on Highway 207 when it failed to navigate a curve in the road. The vehicle then left the roadway, entered into the west ditch and collided with the bank of an intersecting service road. Subsequently, the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 32-year-old Winnipeg man, was ejected from the vehicle.
RCMP believe that speed may have been a factor in the collision, as well, it appears the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Police say that the investigation into this incident continues with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Reconstructionist.
