Lac du Bonnet RCMP are reporting that a 34-year-old female hiker in distress was recently located and rescued from a location on the Mantario Trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park.
On July 25, 2022, at approximately 7:15pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of a hiker in distress in Whiteshell Provincial Park.
Police were told that a 34-year-old woman was hiking alone and had contacted a friend earlier in the day advising that she was not feeling well, but was going to continue on to the next campsite. Several hours later the friend received an SOS message from her satellite device. The hiker’s location was determined, however it was not accessible by vehicle, and no one was able to contact her due to lack of cell coverage.
RCMP report that on July 26 at 6am, officers were flown by helicopter to the woman’s last known location. Subsequently the female hiker was found and was transported to hospital.
Police say that the woman is expected to make a full recovery.
