Oakbank RCMP are reporting that a 32-year-old Winnipeg man has recently died as the result of a single-vehicle collision that occurred near Deacon’s Corner on Highway 1.
On July 27, 2022, at approximately 3:30am, Oakbank RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision at a location on Highway 1, near Provincial Road 207, known as Deacon’s Corner.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an SUV that was resting on its roof in the westbound lane of the divided highway.
Police say that a man was receiving medical attention at the time. The man, a 32-year-old from Winnipeg, was later pronounced deceased on scene.
Initial police investigation determined that an SUV was traveling east on Highway 1 when it entered the ditch and rolled several times. Subsequently, the vehicle landed on its roof facing west in the westbound lane of the highway.
The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
