A four-year-old girl has died as a result of a recent ATV accident that occurred off of Twin River Road and Provincial Road 210 in the Marchand area.
On April 5, 2017, just after 3:30pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report that a four-year-old girl had been taken to local hospital by her father with injuries sustained in an off-road vehicle collision. Officers attended the hospital and spoke to the 32-year-old father from Marchand, who advised that his daughter was seated in front of him as they were traveling up a hill on an ATV. The ATV then flipped over backwards onto both riders before continuing to roll down the hill.
Police say that the four-year-old later died as a result of injuries sustained in this incident. The father was not injured.
RCMP report alcohol was not a factor in this incident and that the four-year-old was wearing a helmet. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
