Morden RCMP are reporting that a 45-year-old Winnipeg man has been arrested and charged after the vehicle he was driving hit the ditch on Road 36 West near Morden, Manitoba.
On December 13, 2022, at approximately 7am, Morden RCMP responded to a vehicle collision at a location on Road 36 West, just north of Highway 3, in the Rural Municipality of Stanley.
Initial police investigation determined that a vehicle went off the road and into the ditch. A number of people, who were passing by, stopped to assist the driver. Subsequently, two witnesses noticed that the vehicle appeared to be stolen as it didn’t have licence plates and damage could be seen to the dashboard.
Police were called and when officers arrived on scene, they spoke to the driver, who was found to have two outstanding warrants, one from Saskatchewan and one from Ontario. The driver was then arrested and further investigation was completed.
RCMP report that the vehicle was checked and it was discovered that it had been stolen from Winnipeg somtime overnight.
As a result of investigation, 45-year-old James Jennings of Winnipeg has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply. He was remanded into custody.
