Stonewall RCMP are reporting that a RM of Rockwood man has been arrested and charged in connection to drugs and weapons being seized from his vehicle in a recent traffic stop.
On March 15, 2023, as part of an ongoing investigation into firearms and drugs, Stonewall RCMP attempted to stop a suspect vehicle on Highway 7 in the RM of Rosser.
Police say that the suspect vehicle refused to stop and fled towards Winnipeg. Several other officers were deployed, including members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT). A spike belt was subsequently used which successfully damaged all four tires. The vehicle then continued to drive on the flat tires, and when it attempted to make a sharp turn, went off the road and rolled.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers approached the vehicle. The three occupants initially refused to exit the vehicle, however after a short time they did exit the vehicle and were arrested. Officers noted that all three adults were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded firearm with the serial number filed off, brass knuckles, a knife and bear spray.
RCMP report the driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Eric Moar, from the RM of Rockwood, will be facing numerous charges related to this incident. He was remanded into custody.
