RCMP recently responded to a report of a man in medical distress at a remote location approximately 40 kilometres south of Leaf Rapids, Manitoba.
On March 28, 2023, at approximately 6:15pm, Leaf Rapids RCMP responded to a report of a male in medical distress at a remote cabin near Suwannee Lake. Officers were notified that a friend of the male had driven out from the cabin on snowmobile and was waiting to take officers to the remote location, which was only accessible by snowmobile.
RCMP, along with Emergency Medical Services, drove to the location, and met up with the male. From there they snowmobiled to the cabin, approximately 6.5 kilometres away.
Police say that the 85-year-old male in medical distress, was transported via snowmobile sled back to the road. The man was subsequently taken to hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
“In remote areas it can be a challenge to respond to emergency situations,” said Sergeant Lisa Wowchuk, Detachment Commander of Leaf Rapids. “In this instance, our officers, EMS and community members worked together and were able to get this male the medical assistance he needed.”
