The Chair and the Chief Executive Officer of Manitoba Hydro were each honoured with awards from separate organizations at ceremonies held in Winnipeg and Vancouver on April 27.
Manitoba Hydro Electric-Board chair Edward Kennedy and his wife Stella were each honoured as community leaders by the Manitoba Museum at the museum’s annual Tribute Gala event in Winnipeg. As honourees at the event, the Kennedys have helped shape Manitoba’s future through encouraging discovery and the sharing of stories at the Manitoba Museum.
Proceeds from the annual Tribute Gala support the museum’s Access for All community initiative, designed to remove the financial, social, and cultural barriers to museum visitation and with that, helping the museum grow, diversify, and engage new audiences.
In Vancouver, the Women’s Infrastructure Network – a national association for women to help inform Canada’s infrastructure agenda – honoured Jay Grewal, Manitoba Hydro’s President & CEO, with its 2023 Outstanding Leader Award.
“I’m truly humbled by the award, especially as it comes from my peers,” Grewal said. “A terrific group of candidates were nominated this year, and to be singled out is not something I expected. If anything, the award is one more indication of the contribution being made each day by the employees of Manitoba Hydro as we not only plan for the future but stay steadfast in our resolve to provide our customers with the energy they need each day.”
Twenty-nine women from across Canada were nominated for the award.
Manitoba Hydro was also recently named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers, one of the nation’s Best Diversity Employers, and one of Manitoba’s Top Employers.
