Steinbach RCMP are reporting that a 43-year-old Blumenort, Manitoba man has been arrested in connection to a recent suspicious death incident that occurred at a residence in the community.
On August 1, 2023, at approximately 7:45pm, Steinbach RCMP received a report of a firearm having been discharged at a residence located in Blumenort.
Officers, along with EMS, attended to the residence and located a 27-year-old male, from Blumenort, with critical injuries. The male victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
RCMP report that a 43-year-old male suspect, who resided at this residence, was arrested on scene and remains in police custody. Police noted that man was not physically injured.
Steinbach RCMP, along with Major Crime Services and RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate this incident.
Update
On August 2, 2023, RCMP charged 43-year-old Cory Jay Davis, of Blumenort, with criminal negligence causing death with a firearm and a number of firearms-related offences. He has been remanded into custody and scheduled to appear in Court in Winnipeg.
