Selkirk RCMP are reporting that a 38-year-old Winnipeg man was recently arrested and charged after officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, Manitoba.

On August 10, 2023, at approximately 2:45am, Selkirk RCMP received a report about a suspicious vehicle on Parkdale Road in the RM of St. Andrews. Police were told that the suspect vehicle, a pickup truck, had been parked on the road with its lights on for over one hour.

Officers responded to the scene and located the truck parked in the middle of Parkdale Road. When an officer checked the licence plate of the vehicle, it did not match the vehicle. Members then approached the vehicle and located a male asleep in the driver’s seat. Upon waking, the male suspect could not produce a driver’s licence. Officers noted that drugs were seen on the centre arm rest.

Police say that the male suspect was taken into custody. The vehicle was subsequently searched, and officers located cocaine, crystal meth, a crack pipe, a metal spoon with white residue and a can of bear spray.

The pickup truck was determined to be stolen out of Headingley and the suspect was found to have several warrants out for his arrest, both from Manitoba and Alberta.

RCMP report that 38-year-old Bojan Kosanji of Winnipeg is facing numerous charges related to this investigation, including possession of a scheduled substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime and operation of motor vehicle while prohibited.

“This is a great example of community working with the police to address public safety concerns,” said Staff Sergeant Mitch Tkachuk of Selkirk RCMP. “Although we try, we can’t be everywhere all the time, so having the public alert us to suspicious activity is invaluable, and I offer our particular thanks to the individual who called this incident in.”
