Portage la Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) are reporting that a 44-year-old male suspect has been arrested and charged in connection to the seizure of drugs stemming from a traffic stop.
Officers from the Portage la Prairie GIS recently conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Fisher Avenue East. Police say that the driver refused to identify himself and was arrested.
A search of the driver and vehicle was conducted and subsequently located a large quantity of cash and approximately one kilogram of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine.
RCMP report that the driver was identified as 44-year-old Bjarne Roussin who was wanted on an outstanding warrant of arrest. Roussin is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and obstructing a peace officer.
