Moose Lake RCMP have arrested and charged a 15-year-old male youth in connection to a recent homicide that occurred at a local residence in the community.
On September 2, 2023, at approximately 2:45am, Moose Lake RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the community. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a 34-year-old male with life-threatening injuries. Police transported the victim to hospital where he was life-flighted to Winnipeg. Shortly after arriving, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Police say that the death of the victime is being treated as a homicide.
Due to ongoing violence and threats in the community, the “D” Division Emergency Response Team and North District CREST unit assisted the Moose Lake Detachment conducting check stops, patroling and responding to calls.
RCMP report that on September 3, a 15-year-old male youth from Mosakahiken Cree Nation was arrested and charged. The youth is facing 2nd degree murder charges in connection to the homicide.
