Portage la Prairie RCMP are reporting that a 17-year-old male youth has recently been arrested and charged after police found him to be in possession of a prohibited weapon.
Officers recently attended a residence located on Willow Bay in Portage la Prairie, and subsequently located a male suspect in possession of a firearm. Police say that the 17-year-old youth, from Sandy Bay First Nation, was arrested without incident.
RCMP report that the youth is facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of firearm.
Police noted that the suspect was released from custody on a release order.
