Falcon Beach RCMP are reporting that a 59-year-old male hiker was recently rescued on the Mantario Trail near Caribou lake, in Whiteshell Provincial Park.
On September 18, 2023, at approximately 4:50pm, Falcon Beach RCMP, along with the assistance of Traffic Services, responded to an SOS beacon from an injured hiker. Three officers immediately responded and obtained the GPS coordinates from the SOS beacon.
Police say that the terrain was difficult, so officers used ATVs and a boat to get to the area.
RCMP report that the 59-year-old male hiker was located and brought back to safety. The man had sustained some injuries as a result of the incident, but was later checked by Emergency Medical Services and cleared.
Police noted that two officers sustained minor injuries during the rescue.
