Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) reports the intersection reconstruction of the Trans-Canada Highway at Provincial Road (PR) 207, commonly known as Deacon’s Corner, is scheduled to start a new phase tomorrow and delays should be expected.

A temporary traffic signal shutdown will be in effect tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During the shutdown, the intersection will be controlled by flag persons and traffic will be transitioned from a four-lane undivided highway to a four-lane divided highway. Once the temporary shutdown is complete, the new permanent traffic control signals will be operational for all directions in the intersection. Motorists are asked to observe construction signage and use caution while travelling through the construction zone.

Residents and businesses located in Lorette and the surrounding area should consider using PR 405 as an alternate route to avoid delays at Deacon’s Corner.

MTI advises the project is now substantially complete, but clean-up activities on the project will continue into next spring.
