Lac du Bonnet RCMP are currently looking for a suspicious male suspect that was allegedly in possession of a firearm near the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) facility in Pinawa, Manitoba.
Police say that officers recently received a report of a male suspect who was in possession of what appeared to be a firearm near the CNL facility. A newer black SUV was also reported by security staff to be in the area.
RCMP report that officers from multiple detachments, as well as from the Emergency Response Team, immediately responded and searched for the suspect and vehicle. After a thorough search of the area, with the assistance of a drone, neither the man nor vehicle was located.
While CNL is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation, investigators believe the incident is unrelated to CNL operations on the site.
If anyone has any information regarding this incident, or may have seen a newer black SUV on Highway 211 near the CNL site, they are asked to call Lac du Bonnet RCMP at 204-345-8685.
