The province has announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 2023-24 Manitoba’s Excellence in Education Awards to recognize exceptional achievements in education.
“Every day, educators across the province work tirelessly to provide young Manitobans with engaging learning opportunities to support their emotional, intellectual, physical and social development,” said Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Nello Altomare. “Manitoba’s Excellence in Education Awards is an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary impact these educators have on their students, schools and communities.”
Parents and guardians, students, colleagues, administrators and school trustees are invited to submit nominations by the Jan. 18, 2024, deadline. Nominees must be educators who hold a valid, permanent Manitoba teaching certificate and work directly with kindergarten to Grade 12 students in a school setting on a daily basis.
Awards will be presented in the following categories:
- teaching excellence award;
- outstanding new teacher award;
- outstanding team collaboration award;
- outstanding school leader award; and
- premier’s award for excellence in education.
Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee that includes representatives from across the education sector and Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning.
Award recipients will be honoured at a ceremony in the spring, added Altomare.
