A 37-year-old Birch River man has been arrested and charged in connection to an ongoing investigation involving shots being fired at a Swan River residence.
Swan River RCMP recently responded to a report of shots fired at a residence, located on 1st Street South, in Swan River. Officers attended the home and observed that the front door, a front window and wall had been damaged by gunfire. The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival and no injuries were reported.
As a result of ongoing investigation, officers from Swan River, with assistance from the West District CREST unit, executed a search warrant at a residence located on Lorne Avenue in Birch River. As a result of the search, police seized six firearms as well as a large quantity of ammunition.
RCMP report that 37-year-old David Gabriel, from Birch River, was arrested on scene and remanded into custody on charges of assault with a weapon, as well as numerous firearm-related offences.
